G.I.Joe 2 For 10.99 SALE at ToysR Us and Toys R Us.com!

From Aug. 23rd-29th, TRU will be hold yet ANOTHER sale on GI Joe 3 3/4 inch figures! While not as great as the two "2 for 9.99" sales last month and earlier this month, it's nothing to sneeze at.

This time around, the sale extends to 25th/Modern Era Joe figures (whatever's left in stock), not just the "Rise of Cobra"line, so you may want to check it out, and pick up some figures you might have missed! Or troop build on the cheap!

GEEKTIP:

If you can't find what you want at TRU, remember; Target and Wal-Mart both price match! Just bring in a copy of the ad that shows the sale (sometimes a receipt from that day works...sometimes), take it to the service desk and they will honor it! One geeXpot staffer got the entire current wave (featuring the uber-popular Paris Pursuit Baroness and Dr. Rex figures) plus a few extras for $40 bucks!

We Apologize...

"Tron: Legacy" (2010) and "Planet Hulk" Trailers in HD!

One of the most daunting task facing filmmakers doing sequels, is to surpass the achievements of their first effort. As movie goers see time and time again, is that studios often fail in that task.

Now imagine creating a film like "Tron". A film that in 1982 broke ground in the use of computer graphics. This film put CGI on the map folks. How can you top that?

Well, the creative geniuses at Disney have given it one heck of a shot, and debuted their efforts at San Diego Comic Con, in the form of a trailer.

The Staff LOVES this trailer. Action packed, and the appearance of a familiar face makes you want to see this. Lightcycles for the win! Here it is, Geek Legion, courtesy of Youtube:

Next up, we have the next direct-to-DVD effort from Marvel Entertainment and Lionsgate. At first, we weren't too impressed with Marvel's offerings. Let's face it, folks, "Ultimate Avengers" 1&2, "Iron Man", and "Doctor Strange" were full of flaws, but they showed that Marvel had promise in the animation arena. It seems after the "Hulk Vs..." series, Marvel has hit it's stride and is ready to give us fans some hard-hitting action, strait from the pages of it's comics.

"Planet Hulk" was a successful story line, which took Bruce Banner/The Hulk out of his normal super-hero element and threw him on a far-flung alien planet to be forced to compete in brutal gladiator games. It was a different take on the Hulk, and an intriguing story, even if it ripped "Spartacus" and "Gladiator" a bit. Sure, it was also a set up for a company-wide-buy-50-comics-a-week-to-keep-up-mega-crossover (World War Hulk), but it was this arc which was the most successful.

The trailer looks great. Marvel seems to have another winner on it's hands. The Hulk animated features have been fun, but let's hope Marvel let's the Green Goliath rest on the animation front for awhile. Secretly we've been hoping that Marvel/Lionsgate produces a "Marvel Zombies" DVD... we can dream can't we?

New "G.I.Joe: Rise of Cobra" Clip from Channing Tatum's site!

Channing Tatum linked a video on Youtube from his Twitter site today, showing yet another clip from the upcoming film.  This clip features the Joes in a bit of downtime, as Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) attempts to get closer to Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), and the result of that.  The staff on the whole thinks it's a good scene, if anything a throwback to those "between the action" moments on the 80's cartoon.  Not sure what we think of Ripcord  getting clowned all over the flick.  You be the judge:

EXCLUSIVE G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra Trailer...with a catch...

Paramount is seriously stepping up the advertising for their forthcoming "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"(based on the iconic '80s Hasbro toyline/comic/cartoon)

There have been (so far) no less than nine TV spots, and now we get to see over four and a half minutes of exclusive footage...there's a catch; It's in French. If you've seen the other trailers, however, you should have an idea of what they're saying. The scene is the Paris chase sequence featuring The Baroness (Sienna Miller) and Storm Shadow (Byung Hun Lee) making a getaway in a tricked out H2 Hummer (aka the Cobra Steel Crusher), with the Joe team in hot pursuit. There's lots of action, explosions, and fans get a longer look at the controversial Delta- (why couldn't they have called them "Sigma") Six Accelerator Suits in action. We also get to see why Joe team member Snake Eyes (Ray Park) is the most popular character of the franchise!.
